TASTING :: MARCH 10, 2016
Monmousseau Vouvray
France – $14.95
Pronounced hazelnut, green apple, green pear and honey suckle aromas. With peach, elderflower, honey dew melon and ripe red apple palette.
Yalumba Bush Vine Grenache
Australia – $18.75
A medium-deep red with purple hues, this is an expressive wine. The scent is invigorating in its vibrancy – earthy and herbal with bright sunny cherries. To taste, the wine is restrained in its focus, complexly spiced with a wild cherry spin. It radiates red fruit purity. The tannins are fine with a cool granite characteristic hovering just under the surface.
Colter’s Creek Syrah
Idaho – $16.95
Brambly aromas mix with notes of herbs, red cherry, coffee and sweet barrel spices. The flavors are full bodied and high octane. It teeters at times but pulls the balance back together nicely.
Beresan Buzz Red Blend
Washington – $18.95
Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Syrah are combined resulting in a deeply-flavored wine with blue and black fruits, licorice and a streak of scrumptious caramel.
Boekenhoutskloof The Chocolate Block Red Blend
South Africa – $30.95
This vintage shows massive floral perfume with underlying redcurrant, cedar, black pepper, coriander spice and hints of Turkish Delight. The macerated red fruit carries through onto a palate layered with marzipan, minerals and a superb velvety structure.
