TASTING :: DECEMBER 9, 2015

December-9,-2015

Bila-Haut Cotes Du Roussillon Blanc

France – $14.35

Nose shows waxy and honeyed notes on top of lemons and oranges, some sweet white flowers. Creamy body on the palate but some medium acid for balance. The white peach and apricot fruit is matched with whipped honey, peanut shell and some interesting mineral and crushed rock elements.

Kumeu Village Chardonnay

New Zealand – $20.99

This wine was fermented in a combination of old French oak barriques and stainless-steel tanks, so there is very little oak influence on either nose or palate. This has allowed the vibrant fruit to show through beautifully with lively lime and lemon aromas and a flinty, mineral edginess with hints of fig and white peach. The weighty mid-palate also shows peachy ripeness along with crisp acid minerality that gives the wine a refreshing cleansing quality.

Benton Lane Estate Pinot Noir

Oregon – $24.85

This dark crimson hued wine has aromas of black cherry, cassis and red licorice. The texture is quite plush and velvety with integrated tannin, so it will pair with a variety of cuisines. The flavors are classic Oregon pinot noir cherry and berry nuances, with notes of cured meats and baking spices layered in.

Snake River Sangiovese

Idaho – $19.90

Bright ruby colored, fruit driven Super Tuscan style wine. Concentrated Black Cherry, ripe plum and almond aromas and flavors. Fourteen months in French and American oak created a multi-layered texture leading to a soft lingering finish with a hint of vanilla.

Vivanco Rioja Crianza

Spain – $18.25

The bouquet consists of mature red berries, with hints of smoke, vanilla, and spice. Well-structured in the mouth, this Crianza is expressive and meaty and possesses a good balance of red fruit and toasted flavors. The tannins are mature and lead to an elegant, long finish.
