(Caymus) Emmolo Sauvignon Blanc – Napa Valley, ’13

California – $19.60

Aromas are fresh and clean, evoking the scent of early morning after a first rain,with a hint of honeysuckle and underlying notes of tangerineand wet stone. The wine enters the palate with a crisp yet softquality, flowing into flavors of flower blossom and endingwith a mouthwatering finish of fresh-squeezed grapefruit.A long-lasting, zesty minerality leaves the sensation of bothsubtlety and brightness.

 

Tablas Creek Patelin de Tablas Blanc – Paso Robles, ’13

California – $18.60

Fruity, floral aromas of honeysuckle, apricot and candied grapefruit, with a spicy mineral note emerging with air.  In the mouth it’s mouth-filling with peach and lemon zest flavors and a creamy texture, but kept fresh by vibrant acids.  The finish is long, rich and clean, with lingering flavors of peach and mineral.

 

Morgan Chardonnay Metallico – Monterey, ’13

California – $20.80

Metallico’s aromatics are intense with nectarine, honeydew, and green apple. The palate has ripe fruit flavors of grapefruit, pear and minerals. Crisp, food-friendly acidity keeps this special wine refreshing and bright.

 

Bodegas Ochoa Tempranillo/Garnacha, ’12

Spain – $11.95

Dark ruby color. Blackberry aroma. Firm structure. Plum and black fruit flavors. Soft finish with notes of raspberry.

 

Pecchenino Dolcetto di Dogliani DOC San Luigi, ’13

Italy – $19.18

A 100% Dolcetto wine that macerates for ten days and ages in stainless steel. The color is not particularly dark for the grape variety, an estate trademark, and the aroma has distinct aromas of dried flowers, rose and a slight smoked note.

 

Powers Cabernet Sauvignon ‘Coyote’, ’10

Washington – $19.60

Starting off with intense aromatics of blackberry jam, mint/eucalyptus, sweet cigar, anise and a slight touch of wet clay on the nose, the palate explodes with rich and layered flavors.  From black currant, blackberries, mint, cocoa, a touch of dark spice and layered roasted serrano peppers, this wine is very balanced and leads into a firm finish with round but complex tannins.
